Honeybees cruise through first best-of-five road match

(September 5, 2017) — Stephenville traveled to West for its first best-of-five road match Tuesday and scorched West, 25-13, 25-17, 25-18 in the first match in a week for the Honeybees, who after three straight weekend tournaments took last weekend off.

WHY THEY WON:
Stephenville hit a respectable .230 as a team while blocking 13 shots without a blocking error defensively and serving with 90 percent accuracy including five aces, enough to over come 10 receive errors.

LEADERS:
Salette Rios – 10 kills while hitting .300, 6 digs, 2 block assists
Jayci Morton – 8 kills while hitting .290, 4 digs, 4 total blocks, 1 service ace
Gabie Lucero – 3 service aces, 3 kills, 9 assists
Hannah Huckabee – 17 assists, 4 digs
Hailey Martin – 14 digs

UP NEXT:
Stephenville has its final pre-district tuneup at Peaster Friday. First serve is set for 5 p.m.

DISTRICT 8-4A:
District action begins next Tuesday with the Honeybees traveling to Godley. Here’s their 8-4A schedule:
