Jordyn Keamo, right, knows knows to get the ball to Hailey Roberts, left. But what makes Keamo special is she knows how to manipulate a defense and keep them guessing, too.

STEPHENVILLE (September 7, 2017) — Tarleton (4-0) was ranked in the top 25 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association to begin a season for the first time, and following a school-record four consecutive straight-set victories – two over nationally-ranked opponents – the TexAnns enjoyed the largest leap they’ve ever made in the national poll.

Now No. 17 in the nation, the TexAnns are traveling to Denver, where they compete in the Colorado Premier Challenge. They are at Regis University for two matches on Friday, with those results setting the table for who, where and when they battle on Saturday,

One thing’s for sure – Jordyn Keamo, already a JUCO and Division II All-American as a setter – will be in the middle of the action. Oh, and she just might send a few sets he way of a certain national player of the year.

I enjoyed a brief Q&A with Keamo, and I hope you do, too:

Q) It’s your senior year, after being a JUCO All-American and already a Division II All-American how does your approach toward things change knowing its your last season?
A) Really, I just try not to focus on it being my last time for everything, because then it gets emotional. We have a chance to be a great team, so I’m jus focusing on getting done what needs to get done.

Q) What’s it like setting to the hitter who the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association says is the best volleyball player in the country?
A) It’s really great, it is. She’s just such an amazing talent. I just set her up and then look out, because she always finds a way to put it in the template.

Q) How do you approach your job as a distributor of the ball knowing so many of your opponents are keying on Hailey?
A) I just try to move it around as much as possible so the other team doesn’t always know what I’m doing. Everyone knows we’re going to set the ball to Hailey Roberts, how do you not? I just try to move it around enough to keep the defense on their toes.

Q) What do you love about Wisdom Gym and playing here?
A) I love the atmosphere and I love our fans. They turn it into a great environment and playing here is amazing.
