STEPHENVILLE (September 9, 2017) — Tarleton State scored 28 straight points in the second half to blow out Oklahoma Panhandle State, and they did it while answering a number of important questions that may very well shape the season for the Texans. Let’s dive into them in tonight’s college football version of the First Financial Bank First Flash!

First thought following the games! Each Friday and Saturday this football season, brought to you by FIRST FINANCIAL BANK.

TARLETON 48, OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE ST. 20

First and foremost, Zed Woerner is the quarterback of the Tarleton Texans. He answered that unequivocally with two deep balls that Derek Kiser has not been able to connect on so far this season. Woerner is a senior, and with those two long balls down opposite sidelines to Jeff Thomas and Del’Michael High, then a corner fade beautifully placed to Savon Rollison that set up a slant for a TD to Rollison moments later, Woerner has 55 career TD passes. That puts him two behind Scott Grantham for the career record at Tarleton.

The Texans also learned Adam Berryman is plenty healthy to be their primary running back. He showed explosion a number of times, especially on his 44-yard scoring burst that put the Texans ahead for good to start the second half. He has that one-cut-and-go burst that coaches love to see.

They also answered some special teams questions – Daniel McCants is your kick returner – all he did was gallop into the night for an 89-yard Td – and High is your punt returner after a number of good ones.

The more questions that got answered, the further Tarleton pulled away. It will be fun to see the Texans when LSC play opens next week, when they’ve had a full week to prepare with so many wildcards now solidified.
