STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Volleyball continues to soar to new heights in the national spotlight as the TexAnns climbed three spots to No. 14 in the latest national poll by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The TexAnns finished fourth at the most prestigious NCAA Division II volleyball tournament in the country, the Colorado Premier Challenge, last weekend. Tarleton opened the tournament with its third win over an AVCA Top-25 team by defeating No. 16 Central Oklahoma in four sets before dropping three straight matches to close out the tournament – the last two against national top-10 opponents, No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State and No. 6 Angelo State.
Tarleton’s first national ranking came in the final poll of the 2016 season when the TexAnns debuted at No. 25. They have been ranked in every release since – opening the season at No. 25, moving to No. 17 last week, and No. 14 this week.
Hailey Roberts leads the Lone Star Conference and is in the top 20 in the nation in kills (121) and kills per set (4.32) to lead the Tarleton offense. The TexAnns are currently 5-3 on the season and will return to action Thursday night with a 6 p.m. road trip to Dallas Baptist before beginning Lone Star Conference play at 7 p.m. in Denton against Texas Woman’s.
