STEPHENVILLE (September 19, 2017) — Theatre at Tarleton kicks off its new season Tuesday, Sept. 26, with Neil Simon’s Rumors, a fast-paced, fun-filled farce that will leave even the grouchiest couch potato laughing out loud.

The play runs through Sept. 30, with curtain time at 7:30 nightly in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center on the Stephenville campus. Rated PG-13, the play contains adult language.

Tickets are available at Tarleton’s Fine Arts Center Box Office, open from 2 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Admission is $10 for adults; $8 for senior citizens, children under 18 and Tarleton faculty and staff; and $5 for students with a valid ID.

Rumors, Simon’s first effort at farce, follows a group of wealthy New Yorkers at a soiree at the home of the deputy mayor and his wife.

The play features situational comedy staples—revolving doors, kitchen gags, bathroom mishaps, botched suicides, clueless police—to tell the outwardly goofy story of four couples trapped in a hilariously awkward social situation.

Performers and designers are Tarleton theater majors. Here’s a list:
• Caleb Badgley as Ken Gorman, a well-spoken, handsome attorney who’s a bit high-strung.
• Rachel Arrington as Chris Gorman, Ken’s elegant and attractive wife, also a bit high-strung.
• Willie Byrum as Lenny Ganz, an accountant who’s just wrecked his new BMW.
• Bailey Brewer as Claire Ganz, Lenny’s gossip-monger—a New York housewife type.
• Chris Baldock as Ernie Cuzak, a smug psychiatrist.
• Jazzmyne Marsha Jones as Cookie Cuzak, Ernie’s wife and a cook show host with a bad back.
• Tyson Zinsmeyer as Glenn Cooper, an ambitious, polished man preparing to run for state senate.
• Kay Higgins as Cassie Cooper, Glenn’s trophy wife—a jealous type.
• Devon Kleine as Officer Welch, a straight-talking veteran police officer.
• Laramie Gambrell as Officer Pudney, a rookie cop.
• Joy Serene Adams, lighting designer
• Cathryn D’Amore, costume designer
• Victoria DePaola, sound
• April Harlin, makeup and hair.

Mark Holtorf directs, and Carol Stavish designs the set. Both are associate professors in Tarleton’s Fine Arts Department.
