(September 25, 2017) — Xavier Turner of Tarleton is the LSC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the first 21 points Saturday, when Tarleton led 27-0 and eventually defeated West Texas A&M 30-20. The Texans have won three straight and are 2-0 in conference games leading up to this week’s trip to Odessa to take on UT-Permian Basin at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Here’s the word on Turner from the LSC office in Richardson:

Turner enjoyed a career night Saturday as he became the first Texan to rush for three touchdowns in a single game since 2014. The junior from North Richland Hills topped the 100-yard mark on the ground for the first time in the purple and white as Turner went for 135 yards on 17 carries with three scores, including a long run of 45 yards to the house. He averaged 7.9 yards per carry and added a five-yard reception on the night. Turner is the Tarleton player to rush for three touchdowns in a game since Collin Strahan in 2014 and was the first player this season to run for over 100 yards against West Texas A&M.
