HICO (October 3, 2017) — Shelby Polk almost saved Hico with six straight serves that ended in Lady Tiger points Tuesday night, turning a 23-18 deficit into a 24-23 Lady Liger lead over county and district rival Hamilton.

But Hamilton pulled even, and withstood Hico reaching set point again, as the Lady Bulldogs scored the final three to take the fourth set 27-25, and the match in four, 18-25, 25-23, 25-21, 27-25.

The turning point in the match seemed to come on a controversial call overturning a shot ruled to be out in the second set. A Hamilton error was in retrospect judged to be a Lady Bulldog point in bounds, and instead of Hico leading the second 21-20, Hamilton took that edge. Hico had rallied from down 12-5 early in the set, but the overturned call helped Hamilton regather itself before finishing strong to even the match.

The Lady Bulldogs took control of the match when they broke a third-set tie at 20-20 by scoring five of the next six to move a set ahead. It then appeared they were rolling n the fourth leading 23-17, but a side out for Hico gave Polk a chance and she very nearly fueled a come back to force a decisive short set.
