Heritage sweeps past Stephenville again

(October 3, 2017) Jayci Morton collected eight kills and three blocks while Hailey Martin tallied 15 digs, but that was about it as far as highlights for Stephenville in a three-set loss that means the Honeybees will very likely finish third in District 8-4A.

Heritage won 25-10, 25-17, 25-22 while Stephenville committed 42 errors in three sets, 22 of them receiving, 19 on the attack and the last a missed serve. Then Honeybees hitting percentage was an even .000.

Salette Rios was successful on four kills and dug six balls, while Ashton Garner, Chloe Goodman and Jaydi Griffin each added two kills. One from Faith O’Brien rounded out only 19 Stephenville kills in the match.

It took a combined 90 sets for Hannah Huckabee and Gabbie Lucero to each make nine assists as Heritage dominated at the net. Huckabee, who also made six digs, set the ball 51 times, while Lucero set it 39 times in addition to digging four balls.

Kristen Pettit served the only ace for Stephenville and contributed four digs.

It’s homecoming Friday and the Bees face off with Godley in a 4:30 p.m. matinee at Gandy Gym. Stephenville won the first meeting in three sets.
