John James Brandon passed from this life on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel in Stephenville, Texas, with Brandon Pollard officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery in Lingleville, Texas. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Stephenville Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

John was born on September 16, 1934 in Dublin, Texas, to the late Walter and Velma Brandon. He graduated from Stephenville High School and earned an Animal Science degree from Tarleton State University and Texas Tech University. After graduation, he served in the United States Army for two years. John earned a 32nd degree in the Masonic Lodge. He married Reba King on August 11, 1966. They moved to Ft. Worth, and he worked for the Cattleman Magazine and Angus Journal. He was a licensed auctioneer for over fifty years selling cattle and later farm and ranch estates. John was a member of the First Baptist Church most of his life. He was a cattleman and rancher. He loved living his retirement years and working his cattle on the over hundred year old family farm in Lingleville.

Beside his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Randy King. He is survived by his wife, Reba, and daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Terry Humberson and Becky and Dan Whitt. Grandchildren include Chris and Misty Powell, James and Shyra King, Brandon and Dana Pollard, Bobby and Jennifer Ditmore, Coby and Madison Whitt, and 14 great-grandchildren.
