s 12thconsecutive victory Friday night as the No. 13 TexAnns took care of Texas Woman’s with their 13th sweep of the season (25-17, 28-26, 25-22).

En route to matching the 1991 winning streak of 12, Tarleton hit .219 as a team for the match, led by a 19-kill performance fromHailey Roberts on a .293 hitting clip. This is the 11th time over the last 12 games that the Tarleton offense has landed kill shots at a percentage higher than .200 for the match.

Tarleton jumped out in front early with a 14-5 run to open the match, including eight straight points served up by Hailey Roberts. Six of the eight points during the run came on kills by Tarleton with Alexis Applewhite and Adriana Darthuy landed two each and Jordyn Keamoand Amber Strange accounting for one over the run.

The Pioneers pulled back within five at 21-16 before a kill from Roberts started a 4-1 Tarleton surge to close out the set.

Tarleton survived a second-set thriller in extra points after holding off a Texas Woman’s rally that saw the Pioneers come back from an early 9-4 deficit. The Pioneers tied things up and even took a late lead at 19-18 before a kill from Roberts and an ace from Keamo shifted the momentum back to Tarleton. The TexAnns took a set-point lead at 24-22 before Texas Woman’s scored two straight to even things up.

Tarleton kept the advantage through the extra points before back-to-back kills from Roberts put the set away for the TexAnns.

In the final set of the night, Tarleton trailed for most of the first 40 points as the Pioneers led 21-19. Back-to-back errors by Texas Woman’s gave Tarleton a 21-20. Texas Woman’s took another lead at 22-21 but Tarleton answered right back with four straight kills from Roberts to seal the deal.

Behind Roberts’ team-high 19 kills, Darthuy landed eight while Applewhite (7), Strange (6), and Keamo (6) combined for 19 more kills. Keamo and Blanca Izquierdo each boasted double-double performances as Keamo went for 32 assists and 13 digs while Izquierdo had 12 assists and 11 digs. Adrianna Knutson led the team with 15 digs.

Tarleton will host a battle of the league’s top two teams tomorrow afternoon as the TexAnns host Texas A&M-Commerce at 2 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
