(October 24, 2017) — Another week went by with no movement among 2A powers at the top of the Associated Press Texas High School Football Poll, updated Monday.

The Bearcats are No. 8 for the third straight week. They have been there since handing Crawford its first home loss since 2009 in a largely one-sided 38-18 route to begin ‘District 10-A Division I competition and followed that with a 27-14 victory over Hico, a bye week and last Friday’s 56-14 stomping of Hamilton.

De Leon is back home this week and is a big favorite against winless Valley Mills. The Bearcats visit San Saba next Friday then conclude the regular season at home gainst a Goldthwaite squad it shocked with a big comeback on the road last season, catapulting the Bearcats to a state quarterfinal run.
