STEPHENVILLE (November 7, 2017) — The school district working toward placing a digital learning tool in the hands of every student – or those in third grade and above, at least – would like also to send text messages to every parent.

“SISD is taking steps to increase the standardization of our communication. Partnering with SchoolMessenger, we are now able to communicate directly with our parents, guardians, students and community through a variety of platforms,” says an announcement on the school district website, sville.us. “We understand that one of the most direct and immediate forms of communication is through text messaging. However, we need your permission to make this service available on your device.”

TO OPT IN FOR DIRECT TEXT MESSAGES, TEXT “Y” OR YES” TO 67587.

The release continues, saying, “This new oordinated approach will allow the district campuses to send up to the minute real-time information via text messaging, Twitter, Facebook, recording and email.”

If you opt in correctly, an immediate reply from SchoolMessenger reading, “You’re registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies.”
