(November 22, 2017) – Dublin made two things clear in its boys basketball opener – the Lions again intend to push the pace and play baseline-to-baseline, and Tolar is not among those who can handle such tempo.

The final three quarters were merely a formality after Dublin jumped on top 22-3 by the end of the first stanza, during which the Lions knocked down four of their dozen 3-pointers. Two of those belonged to Rayce Jackson, who would hit two more in later action on his way to 23 points.

The District 6-3A member Lions tacked on a 22-11 margin in the second, leading 44-14 before slamming on the breaks in the second half, when the 7-3A Rattlers came to life with 41 points. See box score below for all scorers.

p style=”margin-bottom: .0001pt;”>The pace makes Dublin entertaining in any game, but few last year were as geared up as when the Lions visited Stephenville. Dublin faced a significant early deficit against the 4A Yellow Jackets, but used their tempo to come all the way back and force overtime. Stephenville won, and now Dublin gets a chance to avenge the loss when the Jackets visit Roy and Lynn Neff Gym at DHS next Tuesday. Tip-off is expected to be about 8 p.m.

The Stephenville side will be without several players whose season debut on the hardwood will be further delayed if the Yellow Jacket football team defeats Pampa Friday.
