STEPHENVILLE (November 30, 2017) — As reported, Timothy Travis Simon, 33 of Stephenville, is behind bars for six new charges of possession or promotion of child pornography. Now, his bond has been set at $1.2M, a sharp jump up from the measly $15,000 he bonded out on for the first charge on November 17.

The former youth minister at Graham Street Church of Christ was first arrested on November 17 and turned over multiple electronic devices following the arrest. According to the arrest affidavit, a complaint was made and after questioning, Simon admitted to “knowingly and intentionally going online and searching for child pornography.”

After his phone was seized by the police, the affidavit states investigators found images of naked boys, between the ages of 10 and fourteen years old, touching each other in a sexual manner. According to the affidavit, Simon then used an app on his phone called WhatsApp to share the phones with others and had been doing so since August 2017.

The investigation into Simon had been going on for nearly a month when he was first arrested. And shortly following his initial arrest, Graham Street CoC officials said Simon had resigned as a minister in the days before he was taken into custody.

Simon’s attorney for the original charge is Shay Isham, and no new attorney is listed in official court documents as of 8 a.m. Friday morning. Simon bonded out of the Erath County Jail on a $15,000 bond for his Nov. 17 arrest for the same charge, a different count on November 18. This arrest means Simon is facing seven total charges for the possession or promotion of child pornography.

These charges are second-degree felonies and carry a sentence of two to 20 years in the State Penitentiary.
