(December 5, 2017) — Huckabay found no worthy challengers in a tournament in Dublin last weekend, destroying Whitney 51-18 in the final.
Kailin Dowell of the Lady Indians had two-thirds as many points in the first quarter as 3A Whitney had in the entire game. Dowell scored 12 in the first, when she had five of the team’s eight field goals including one of their three 3-pointers. Huckabay had six triples by halftime and finished with eight after slamming the breaks on their dominance in the second half.
There was balanced scoring behind Dowell Emmy Rodriguez adding nine, Destiny Cook six, Trinity Meador six and Presli Bray five. Madison Pearson scored three, Tiffany Lopez three, Savanna Graves two and Abby Fields one.
Huckabay will find a better challenger on Tuesday. Much better, in fact, as the Lady Indians visit beautiful Tiger Arena and 4A No. 9 Glen Rose. Tipoff is 6 p.m. with the varsity boys teams to follow at about 7:30 p.m.
Thanks for posting Huckabay basketball !
