STEPHENVILLE — Locally owned radio stations KSTV AM (Fiesta 1510am/93.9FM) and KSTV FM (The Mighty 93) will present the Shop Local winner this Thursday night with $10,000. This second annual event is designed to keep leakage of local shopping dollars from leaving their area and going to the Metroplex. The way the promotion works is with participating local businesses giving shoppers a numbered ticket for every ten dollars spent, up to $1,000 on any daily transaction. This incentivizes shoppers to spend their holiday dollars with businesses that give them a chance to win $10,000. Obviously, the more tickets you have, the greater your odds to win the money. Additionally, local folks can walk into any of the businesses that are participating and receive one free ticket per day as there has been no purchase necessary to participate.
Last year’s $10,000 winner, Michael Newton, received his winning ticket from Texas Car Detail in Dublin.
Thursday night’s give-a-way of the $10,000 will take place at 7pm at the Stephenville City Park (Birdsong Amphitheater). The businesses participating will bring all the tickets (these have the matching numbers of the presented tickets) to the Stephenville City Park and we will draw from that group. The winner must be present to win and they have five minutes to present the winning ticket before another ticket is drawn. We encourage all our local residents who participate to create a spreadsheet of their numbers, so it is easy to ascertain whether one of their numbers has been drawn.
