Stephenville City Council kicks off New Year at monthly meeting

STEPHENVILLE (January 3, 2018) – The Stephenville City Council wrapped up 2017 and started covering 2018’s to do list at last night’s meeting. The agenda included an update on the Tourism and Visitors’ Bureau, an update from SEDA and other items.

City administrator Allen Barnes reported that he and the city staff have been working on developing the structure of the TVB. No issues were ready to take action on, but he would have a report later in the month after consulting with specialists at the Texas Hotel and Lodging Association.

SEDA executive director Dr. John Hubbard reported that the sale on the property for Panda Express has closed. Panda plans to begin construction this month.

Other agenda items included:

  • the annual report from the Planning and Zoning Commission,
  • hearing and approving three rezoning cases and
  • approving new city ordinances regarding sidewalks, signage and subdivisions.

The next City Council meeting will be on Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
