Sybil Mable Delila Martin Estep, age 101, of Dublin, Texas, walked through the Gates of Heaven Wednesday evening, January 3, 2018. She dearly loved her family, always had a smile on her face, and a kind heart toward everyone she met.
Sybil was born September 23, 1916, to Clarence Forrest “Pa” and Alice Mae “Mamie” (Garrett) Martin, in a two-room house on the family farm west of Spur, Texas. She was the third child of four and often spoke fondly of the simple days of her childhood and growing up with her two brothers, Harry Bob and Clarence Forrest Jr. “June”, and older sister, Robbie.
Sybil married Cecil Ernest Estep on December 21, 1932, at the age of 16. They had four children – Forrest “Frosty”, David, Don, and Gerry “Sis”, who all attended school in Spur. Sybil was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cecil, her sons, Forrest Ernest Estep and Donald Lloyd Estep, two granddaughters, Sherri Lynn Drennon and Delila Diane Hughes Dawes, her brothers and her parents.
Sybil is survived by her older sister, Robbie Wyatt, son, David Harrison (Beverly) Estep, daughter, Alice Geralene “Gerry” Hughes, grandchildren – Forrest (Gail) Estep, Kelly (Lindsay) Elliott, Mickey (Dana) Estep, Gwen Bates, Shane (Shonna) Estep, Steve Estep and Holly (George) Grenwelge, 15 great grandchildren – Forrest III, Mikaela, Sabra, Tara, Justin, Wesley, Kirstin, Alexis, Madison, Blake, Grant, Shaye, Mitchell, Dylan and George ll “Deuce”, and 2 great-great grandchildren – Elaina and Maxson.
We would like to thank our cousin, Steve, who took great care of our Mom/Grandma for 15 years, which allowed her to remain at home until one week before her death, as well as Alpha Omega Hospice for their compassionate support.
