STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Athletics has announced that Mackenzie Hailey and Josh Hawley are the December recipients of the ‘Tarleton Student-Athletes of the Month’ award.

The student-athlete of the month is selected based on the all-around student-athlete for one male and one female. The student-athlete will show effort and excellence in academics, leadership, civility, dedication to the team, campus involvement, community service, and the ability to serve as role models for current and future Tarleton State University students and student-athletes.

To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be nominated by their head coach or athletic administrator and maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or better. Only in-season athletes are eligible for the award each month.

Hailey, a sophomore forward from Burleson for the TexAnn Basketball team, led the TexAnns to a 4-2 record in the month of December including three straight victories to close out the month. She averaged 15.5 points per game in six games, including a career-high 28-point performance at Cameron on December 2. She scored 17 points, including the final six to go along with a game-clinching defensive rebound in the final minute, to lead the TexAnns past Arkansas-Fort Smith on the road on December 16. In addition to her scoring, Hailey averaged 5.3 rebounds per game to go along with seven assists, six blocks, and eight steals for the month.
