STEPHENVILLE (January 10, 2018)– With winter well underway in Erath County, now is the perfect time to stock up on soup. In the spirit of all things warm and cozy, the Stephenville Historical House Museum will host its fifth annual Oxford House “Soup to Go” supper on Jan. 29 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now for ten dollars and can be purchased from any museum board member, at the museum office, the Home Place at Ace or the Stephenville Senior Citizens Center. A limited number of tickets are available.

“We will sell tickets even on the day of the fundraiser if we have some left,” museum board of directors vice president Dianne Wilson said.

The meal will include potato soup, salad, seasoned crackers and a dessert. The meal can be picked up at the Stephenville Historical House Museum. Enter from Washington St. onto Shapard St.

“[The money] is dedicated to the renovation of the Oxford House,” Wilson said. “Money will be used for the parking lot and sidewalks. The lawn and planting bed areas need to be built.”

In case of bad weather, the fundraiser will be rescheduled for Feb. 5. For more information, contact Wilson at 254-485-0102.

“[The Oxford House] is a historical Stephenville landmark that the museum was fortunate to save,” Wilson said. “It will be a place for community activities and children’s activities.”
