Dublin PD arrests 39-year-old resident for possession of child pornography

DUBLIN (January 11, 2018) – William James Johnson, 39, is behind bars at the Erath County Jail on one count of possession of child pornography with a $250,000 bond.

According to Dublin Police Chief Bobby Mendez, Dublin PD received a Cyber Tip Alert from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to images of child pornography being viewed and/or shared by a Dublin resident on January 9. With the information received in the report, the suspect was quickly identified.

On Wednesday, January 10, officers began interviewing potential witnesses while obtaining a search warrant for the suspect’s residence,” Mendez said Thursday.In the early afternoon of January 10, officers with Dublin PD executed the search warrant on Johnson’s residence and were able to conduct an interview with him. During the course of the interview with Johnson, he admitted to possessing images of child pornography on his mobile device.”

Based on the evidence obtained during the investigation and Johnson’s confession, Mendez said officers arrested Johnson and charged with him with possession of child pornography. Possession of child pornography is a Third Degree Felony, carrying a punishment range of 2-10 years in prison. Johnson was still in jail as of noon on January 11.
