Sroka to kick in Tropical Bowl

– Tarleton Football senior kicker Sergio Sroka has received an invitation to compete in the 2018 SPIRAL Tropical Bowl All-Star Game in Daytona, Florida on January 14.

“Sergio is very deserving of this opportunity to showcase his skillset,” said special teams coordinator Michael Ghobrial. “He’s an excellent teammate with a great work ethic and will prove to be successful when play amongst the best in the nation.”

Widely considered one of the top four All-Star games by NFL scouts, the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl will be played at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Since 2016, over 110 players from the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl have continued their careers at a higher level, including the National Football League, Canadian Football League, and other professional leagues.

There will be an online broadcast of the game on FloFootball.com, the same website that broadcasted Tarleton’s Corsicana Bowl appearance. FloFootball has the exclusive rights to broadcast the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl and will stream the game online for subscribers at FloFootball.com.

Sroka will wear No. 10 for the American Red Team and will be coached by Tom Littlejohn, who is a former FBS head coach at New Mexico, Syracuse, and Cal.

The Texan alumnus from Miami, Florida played in all 23 games for Tarleton over the last two seasons and scored 131 points for the Texans in his career. He booted 21 career field goals, with a long of 49 last season, and converted 68 PATs. He also kicked off 82 times for an average of 58.3 yards per kick.

He was named the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after leading the Texans to a win at Angelo State on Sept. 16.
