JUST IN: Three local coaches tabbed to lead Big Country FCA all-star teams

STEPHENVILLE (January 25, 2018) — Three head coaches from local schools have been selected to serve as head coaches in the 2018 Big Country Chevy Dealers Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Festival.

Stephenville head coach Justn Swenson will be head coach of the North baseball team, Dublin head boys baseball coach Will Parker will direct the North boys basketball club and Huckabay girls head coach Caleb Walls will oversee the North girls hoops squad. Additionally Greg Hardcastle of Dublin will be an assistant on the North football staff led by Brownwood head coach Kyle Maxfield and Dublin’s Jason Clark will be the assistant coach for the South softball team and head coach Chance Evans of Wichita Falls.

Player selections will be announced February 18. The Flash Today learned Thursday some players have already received invitations in the mail, but the announcement is delayed to give players and their families time to confirm their commitment for their respective events.

The centerpiece of the festival is the Myrle Greathouse All-Star Football Classic. The 19th annual football all-star game is set for 7 p.,m. Saturday, June 9, at Shotwell Stadium. Also in Abilene that day is the annual volleyball match beginning at noon at Abilene Wylie High School. On the same day but in Brownwood at The Coliseum will be the girls and boys basketball games. The  The girls contest starts at 4 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 6 p.m. Baseball and softball games are at Angelo State University in San Angelo with softball at 11 a.m. and baseball at 6 p.m., both on Friday, June 8.
