(January 26, 2018) — Stephenville outscored Venus by 17 in the second half Friday, pulling away for  55-33 District 8-4A road win.

The Yellow Jackets were clinging to a 23-18 edge at the break, but broke out of their edge with a 15-8 edge in the third before putting the victory on ice early in the fourth.

If one happened onto the scene mistakenly with no prior knowledge of the teams, he likely would have believed Stephenville to be the home side, as the Jackets knocked down 55 percent of their shots compared to just 26 percent by Venus.

Stephenville dominated the interior with 37 rebounds to 20 and did not allow Venus a single second-chance point.

Skylar Stilwell was 8-13 and Mason Holstein 4-4 from the floor. They combined to hit half the team’s field goals on 17 shot attempts, and the rest of the team was still a respectable 12-26.

Blake Aragon filled out the stat sheet again with 8 points, 14 boards, seven assists two steals and a block. Cole Pettit added five points and four assists while Cody Storrs and Quade Griffin each scored four.
