Alta Lois Pipes

(December 4, 1926 – January 28, 2018)

Alta Lois Pipes, 91, of Stephenville, died Sunday, January 28, 2018, in Stephenville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 30th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Pipes officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Alta Lois was born on December 4, 1926 in Thurber to the late Joe and Willie Lawson Moody. She married Willie Brann Pipes, Jr., on March 2, 1946 in Stephenville, a wonderful marriage of 64 years. Willie Brann preceded her in death on February 27, 2010. Alta Lois was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and GranGran. She loved to sew, garden, travel, and spend time with her family. She supported her children, and grandchildren in school activities, and spent many hours sewing for them. She was an active member of the Graham Street Church of Christ, and spent a lot of time with her grandchildren on Bible Bowl Trips. Alta Lois was homemaker, and a lifelong resident of Erath County.

Survivors include her son, Willie Brann Pipes, III, and his wife Marilyn of Stephenville; daughter, Deborah and husband Mike Robinson of Stephenville; grandchildren, Melissa and husband Brent Divin of Stephenville, Michelle and husband James Marks of Lindale, Scott Robinson and Tiffany, and Marlena and husband Michael Battenfield of Gorman; great grandchildren, Allison, Elizabeth, Wesley, Hannah, Caroline, Jace, Ryan, Madeline, Brady, Hailey, Brooklyn, Elaina, Emma, and Lillian; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, and husband, Alta Lois was also preceded in death by a brother, Everett; sister, Clarice Sweeney; and a son-in-law, Scott Smith.

The Pipes family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Graham Street Church of Christ for the Building Fund, or the Kindercare Youth Program.

  1. The Pipes family were next door neighbors when we moved to Stephenville in 1964. Alta Lois met and greeted us with a delicious cake. Deborah was a wonderful babysitter, Willie Brann was always helpful with maintenance and Willie was always standing back and grinning. We have kept up with the dear Christian family through the years and our family love has grown.
