(January 31, 2018) — Morgan DiCiccio signed a letter of intent Wednesday morning to continue her amateur softball career at Cisco College.
Taking the junior college route means the Stephenville outfielder will stay in front of NCAA recruiters while knocking out two years of college course work close to home.
A veteran of 97 games – 66 wins, 31 losses – including 12 playoff games – 6-6 – with her senior season still to come, DiCiccio offers Cisco a savvy, fast outfielder and base runner with the ability to slap her way to a high batting average and on-base percentage.
Her 100th varsity contest is fast approaching as the Honeybees have started preseason practices and scrimmage Lampasas at 6 p.m. Thursday at McCleskey Field. They would have scrimmaged Monday, but head coach Rus Mayes pushed it back three days with slew of players out with sickness or injury.
DiCiccio celebrated her signing with parents Kerry and Susan and little brother Ryan by her side with many teammates and friends on hand as well as coaches and administrators in the foyer of Stephenville High School.
In DiCiccio, Cisco is getting speed everywhere, a proven glove in the outfield and a slapper with an uncanny ability for getting on and around the base paths. She has played in 97 varsity games with a record of 66 wins and 31 losses including a 6-6 mark in state playoff contests.
DiCiccio hits .357 for her career with 112 hits, 107 runs scored and 43 runs batted in.
DiCiccio hit .396 last season, and with eight walks on top of 44 hits she boasted an on-base percentage of .446. She had 5 doubles and 3 triples in addition to 36 singles. She crossed the plate 48 times and collected 22 RBI.

Playing center field, DiCiccio posted a .903 fielding percentage, with 25 putouts and three assists while twice contributing to double plays on 31 chances.
Those contributions helped Stephenville to a 26-6 record and the area round of the Region I-4A UIL playoffs. It was a new school record for wins after the Honeybees were 25-11 and made it to the Region I-4A quarterfinals with DiCiccio on board as a sophomore in 2016.
Her sophomore season she had 40 hits – 37 singles and 3 doubles – while driving in 20 runs and scoring 32. She hit .345, with seven walks helping her on-base percentage reach .382.
Even as a freshman, DiCiccio hit .322 with a .410 on-base percentage. She scored 27 runs and drove in one. The 2015 Bees were swept by Burkburnett in bi-district, finishing the year 15-14.
