(February 5, 2018) — As long as head coach Will Parker is in charge in Dublin, the Lions’ record book will show Rayce Jackson stuffing the stat sheet in historic fashion with a quadruple-double on Friday, February 2, 2018, in a 90-44 Dublin win at Early.

In actuality, after conferring with a pair of NCAA Division II statisticians (high school stats follow same regulations as NCAA), it was learned the assist total for Jackson was inaccurate with two assists counted for passes setting up teammates who were fouled and made both free throws. Assists, the manual tells the college statisticians, are only awarded for setting up made field goals, not free throws.

So Jackson, officially any way, has to settle for another lousy triple-double with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 11 steals and 8 assists.

Jackson has been as much the single dominant force in 6-3A as Dublin has been the dominating team. The Lions (22-5, 7-0) have won 12 straight by an average of 28 points per game, are outscoring opponents for the season by 19 points and in district the average margin is a whopping 42.3.

Colorado City looks like a possibility in the bi-district round of the playoffs, and the Wolves it would appear, would be second only to Dublin if they were in 6 -3A, and perhaps have the ability to push the Lions into the fourth quarter. That hasn’t happened since the 72-65 win over Brownwood that featured another Jackson triple-double.

Dublin began the win streak against De Leon, winning 81-77, and has been gathering momentum form there.

Is a quadruple-double in Jackson’s future? Who knows?

With Dublin covering all 94 feet, for all 32 minutes (strategically at least…they back off the pressure once the game is out of control) anything is possible.

Including some 94-32 finals, as well. Or close enough given how the Lions are dominating.

It will all be good as long as it continues in the area round of the Region I-4A playoffs. That’s when Brock or Peaster will be meeting the Lions after Peaster eliminated Dublin last season.
