Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Recent articles in the North Texas newspapers identify a divided electorate. It seems we have the old-school, establishment, “steady-as-she-goes” conservatives versus the firebrand cultural warriors.

Will most North Texas voters support the role of traditional politics; providing all our kids with an excellent education, creating a jobs and business-friendly economy, and managing the state budget with good stewardship?

Or are we voters done with all that and ready for leadership focused on cultural issues such as bathroom usage, what’s in our library stacks, and school privatization?

Most people I know describe themselves as “middle-of-the-road” voters. Perhaps they’ll be the voters that turn out this primary season – when most of our elected positions are actually decided. If they do, I predict we’ll see a greater focus on that most “mundane” aspect of governance – good governance.

Early voting starts February 20th. Vote.

Thank you,

Charles Stonick
