Our favorite roper, Phillip Fred Fifer, 73, of Stephenville, TX and formerly of Capitan and Alamogordo, NM went to be with his Lord Jesus, February 20, 2018. With his wife Jeannie of 56 years by his side.

Phil was born February 22, 1944 to Barr and Juanita “Deta” Fifer in Roswell, NM. He was raised in Alamogordo, NM where he met and married the love of his life Jeannie Lane in 1962 Juarez, Mexico. He worked in the family business of Alamo Pipe & Supply in Alamogordo and Ruidoso until his retirement.

Phil loved roping calves and team roping. Traveling across the US with Jeannie and his grandkids to rope. He and Jeannie loved spending the winter months in Arizona team roping. But Phil loved Jesus most of all and loved the Cowboy Church of Erath County in Stephenville and Picacho Baptist Church in Picacho, AZ. He was a lover of people and a friend to many. His sense of humor never failed to bring a smile. He was a tough man, unafraid to crack a joke when others would have complained.
