Martin, Morton, Wall each named first-team all-district

(February 27, 2018) — Three Stephenville girls basketball players earned first-team all-district honors, highlighting seven total awards earned by Honeybee players in 8-4A.

Seniors Hailey Martin and Payton Wall and junior Jayci Morton are first-team honorees after leading Stephenville to a third-place finish in the district and on on to the Region I-4A quarterfinals after a ninth consecutive area championship, all under head coach Alan Thorpe, who completed the 10th season of his second stop at Stephenville. He has led Stephenville a total of 18 years.

The Bees garnered one superlative award as Alee McClendon came off the bench to earn 8-4A Sixth Man of the Year recognition.

Seniors Jordan Carter and Tesslie Baker were listed as second-team picks and sophomore Maddi Carter is an honorable-mention selection.

District champ Glen Rose took top honors with Ally Andress named MVP and Hailey Ibarra Defensive MVP, both in unanimous votes. Jasmine Bailey and Dani Wallace, both of district runner-up Midlothian Heritage, were named Offensive MVP and Newcomer of the Year, respectively.
