Three TexAnns honored by LSC

FRISCO (March 1, 2018) — Tarleton women’s basketball players Mackenzie HaileyKatie Webster, and McKinley Bostad were recognized by the Lone Star Conference at the annual awards banquet.

Hailey was named to the LSC All-Defensive team for the second consecutive season and also received first-team All-LSC. Webster and Bostad earned third-team All-LSC honors in their first season with the TexAnns.

Hailey led the TexAnns in scoring with 14.5 points per game and had a team-best 7.3 rebounds per game. Hailey’s scoring ranked fourth in the conference and her rebounding ranked ninth. The sophomore forward from Burleson also averages 2.4 steals and 1.1 blocks a contest, which are also team highs. Hailey had nine double-doubles this season and was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 8 and Jan. 22.

Hailey becomes the 10th TexAnn in program history to earn first-team All LSC and the first since Kiara Wright received the honor in 2014.

Webster was second on the TexAnns in scoring, averaging 12.9 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. Webster ranked eighth in scoring in the LSC in her first season in the purple and white. The junior forward from Rockwall had three double-doubles this season, a team high 29 points against Midwestern on Jan. 27, and a team high 14 rebounds at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Feb. 8. Webster was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 29.

Bostad averaged 12.8 points per game for the TexAnns and a team best 2.8 assists per game in her first season at Tarleton. The junior guard recorded a double digit scoring game in 22 of 28 games this season. Bostad had a team high 9 assists against Texas A&M-Kingsville back on Jan. 6. Bostad’s 84% from the charity stripe led the TexAnns and ranked second in the LSC. Bostad was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 8.

The TexAnns will compete in the LSC Tournament as the No. 5 seed when they take on No. 4 Eastern New Mexico on Thursday, March 1 at 6 p.m. at the Dr Pepper Arena.
