Wayne Hammit
(February 12, 1932 – March 10, 2018)

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, at the Stephenville Funeral Home, located at 120 W. South Loop in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, in the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in West End Cemetery in Stephenville.

Wayne was born on February 12, 1932 in Lockney, Texas to the late Oscar Virgil and Willie Frances Gilly Hammit. He married Doris Jo Kincaid on July 30, 1949 in Mineral Wells. Wayne served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 until 1954. He was manager for the Dublin Chamber of Commerce from 1988 until 1992, President of the DeLeon Lions Club from 1997 until 2000, and a member of the Federal Government Accountants Association. Wayne was a member of the Stephenville First Baptist Church. He has lived in Mineral Wells, Dublin, DeLeon, and moved to Stephenville in 2003. Wayne retired in 1987 after serving over 25 years as Deputy Accounting and Finance Officer at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 68 years, Doris; daughter, Cyndi and husband Leon Bauerle of Dilley, Texas, sons, Ron and wife Alison Hammit of Sugar Land, and Kerry and wife Mara Hammit of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Brian and wife Brandi Bauerle, Amber and husband Matt Donelson, Austen Hammit, Clint Hammit, and Taylor Hammit; great grandchildren, Shyanne, Ty, McKenzie, Hope, Ryan, and Luke; brothers, Melvin Hammit of Stephenville, and Freddy and wife Audean Hammit of Granbury; and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ouida Hise; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Nannie Belle Kincaid.
The Hammit family wishes expression of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the First Baptist Church of Stephenville, or the donor’s favorite charity.
