(March 13, 2018) — Stephenville, Midlothian Heritage and Glen Rose will battle at every track and field meet pertinent to each girls team’s success this spring, and the Honeybees showed they are slightly ahead of their District 8-4A rivals early on.

Hailey Martin went double gold as the Honeybees won four field events. The senior Tarleton State pledge won long jump and triple jump, Alyssa Northcutt won discus and Kalli-Blake Bramlett went highest in pole vault.

Martin totaled 30 points – 10 each for her jumping wins, six for third place in 100 meter hurdles and four as part of a relay.

Once the blocks came out over it was the depth of Stephenville that enabled them to hold off Heritage with 152 points to 135. Glen Rose was third in with 124 while none of the remaining four teams reached 60. It’s the first head coaching win for Jeremiah Butchee, who replaced athletic director Mike Copeland leading the program after assisting Copeland and boys coach Kreg Kimple the past five seasons.

There were two or more Honeybees finishing among the top six to score points in three of the races – the 800 and 1,600 meter runs and 100 mter hurdles – and the 4×100 nd 4×200 meter relays were each second, combining for 32 points.
Here is a run down of every point scored by the Honeybees:
