Fannie Mae Chambers was born on December 22, 1932 in the Cottonwood Community of Erath Co., Texas.  She went to be with her LORD on March 19, 2018 at her residence.  She was the daughter of Henry Tull Stroud and Amy (Thackerson) Stroud.  She was united in marriage to Doyle Lee Chambers on October 11, 1952 in Dublin, Texas and to this union 2 children were born.  She was preceded in death by her husband – Doyle and daughter – Amy.  She is survived by her son – Steven Guy Chambers of Dublin; her grandson – Ben Trotter of Ft. Worth, Texas and a host of other relatives and many friends who will miss her dearly.

Fannie was the last remaining member of the Stroud Sisters quartet, made up of her and her three older sisters, Johnnie B., Ermanell, and Merle.  They sang all over Erath and the surrounding counties for weddings, funerals, civic groups, and social clubs.  In addition to singing with her sisters and the Dublin Quartet, Fannie also sang solo for many of the same types of functions.   She kept a careful record of all the funeral services she sang for between the years of 1967-2005, and they numbered well over 1,600.  She served faithfully as worship leader for the Cottonwood Baptist Church for over 60 years.  She had a God-given gift that she used selflessly her whole life, and in doing so touched the lives of many people.  She was well loved and will be missed by many.
