STEPHENVILLE – No. 25 Tarleton wasted no time in running its winning streak to eight by blasting four home runs in an 11-3 rout of Friends University Wednesday afternoon.

After Friends struck for the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the opening inning, the TexAnns put an emphatic imprint on their side of the scoreboard with a pair of three-run home runs in the bottom of the second. Kaylee Rodriquez struck first with a three-run shot to left center and Meghann Wrinkle followed up with a three-run blast of her own to straight-away center for a 6-1 lead after two.

The Falcons cut their deficit in half in the third but Tarleton kept the offense rolling with four in the third to push the lead out to 10-3.

Tanna Huie teed off for an opposite-field, two-run home run to left center to start things off and then Amanda Connerstepped up and delivered an RBI single through the right side. Friends gifted the TexAnns the final run of the inning on a two-out error.

The final run of the game came off the bat of Megan Durante to lead off the fourth as the senior jacked one deep into left center for an 11-3 lead.

Meanwhile, Julia Wernet was in the middle of twirling up her first career complete game and first collegiate victory. The freshman right-hander threw all five innings and allowed three runs – two earned – on six hits and a walk while striking out six.

Her offense supplied nine hits, including two-hit performances from Durante and Huie while Conner, Wrinkle, Lexi Grimaldo, Rodriquez, Morgan Ling, and Kaitlyn Thomas had one hit each.

Tarleton will return to action this weekend against Western New Mexico, beginning Friday with a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
