STEPHENVILLE (April 10, 2018) – Julia Flores struck out seven and gave up only four hits as Stephenville’s Honeybees rocked Midlothian Heritage early and didn’t back off in a 13-3 District 8-4A win at home Tuesday night.
Stephenville gave up two first-inning runs before scoring four their half of the stanza. The Honeybees when then go on to add three runs in the second inning, two in the third, three in the fourth before run-ruling the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Honeybees got multiple hits from Kristen Pettit, Morgan DiCiccio, and Flores with two each while Samantha Luna and Bianka Garcia had one rap each. Flores added to her pitching efforts with a team-leading three RBI performance.
Adding to the Honeybees’ RBI totals were DiCiccio (2), while Jessica Ebeling, Jettie Funderburgh, Madison Gilder and Luna all had singles.
Part of the evening’s festivities included young ladies from the Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department. Players who showed up in their SPARD uniforms got to be out on the field with the Honeybees during the player introductions that included a high-five from Coach Russ Mayes and being on the field for the playing of the national anthem.
Stephenville hits the road for a 7 p.m. Friday game against Alvarado. April 13, marks the final home game of the season and Senior Night as the Honeybees host Godley in a 7 p.m. game.
