STEPHENVILLE – Meghann Wrinkle was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week after leading No. 18 Tarleton to five straight wins, including a sweep of Texas Woman’s in Stephenville.
Wrinkle hit .500 for the week with eight hits, six runs scored, and five RBI.
She saved her best performance for last as she enjoyed a career day in Sunday’s doubleheader sweep. Wrinkle went 3-for-3 and finished a triple shy of the cycle with two runs scored and four RBI in an 11-0 rout in game one. In the nightcap, Wrinkle scored the walk-off run by scoring from second on an RBI single up the middle.
She was also 3-3 in stolen bases and worked a flawless left field, including a game-saving catch on a low line drive to preserve the Tarleton lead over Texas Woman’s in Friday’s win.
Wrinkle is the first TexAnn to win an offensive honor from the league this season and third player overall, joining pitchers Jordan Withrow and Megan Rosewell. This is the fifth consecutive week that Tarleton has had one of the league’s top players.
Wrinkle and the TexAnns are currently playing in Laredo against Texas A&M International. Tarleton will be in action again next Tuesday in Stephenville against St. Edward’s.
