Cathey Vaughn Pendleton

   Cathey Vaughn Pendleton, 76, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018. Cathey was born in Gorman on Aug. 26, 1941, to the late Raymond Lesley Vaughn and Coda Cathey Vaughn. She had one sister, Joy Vaughn Stockton, who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life Charles “Dag” W. Pendleton on June 24, 1961, in Dublin.

   Cathey was a member of First Baptist Church Stephenville. She was longtime secretary to Rev. Emil Becker, as well as secretary of the sanctuary building committee. She also worked as office manager for McDonnell Douglas’ microbiology division and as a real estate broker. She grew up on Resley Creek and, after living in the Austin area for 25 years, she and Charles returned to live on their family land along Resley Creek in 2003.

Cathey loved to read, and she shared her love of books with others by serving on the Dublin Library Board. She was a volunteer for the Dublin History Museum, as well as a member of the Dublin Thursday Club. She was an avid painter, and her children and grandchildren all have prized pieces of art that she painted specifically for them. One of Cathey’s proudest accomplishments was being “Gran” to Emily and Andrew.

Survivors include her husband, Charles W. Pendleton; daughter Lesley Jill Pendleton of Austin; son Bradley Charles Pendleton and his wife Sherry Meeks Pendleton of Austin; granddaughter Emily Lynn Pendleton of Austin, and grandson Andrew Charles Pendleton of Austin.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at First Baptist Church Stephenville with Dr. Ken May and Rev. Dean Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
