STEPHENVILLE (April 18, 2018) – After a special session yesterday evening, the Stephenville City Council unanimously approved to increase the water rate charge and the sewer rate charge by 20 cents each. Council member Jerry Warren was not present.
As of May 1, the water rate volume charge per 1,000 gallons will increase from $4.15 to $4.35. The sewer rate volume charge per 1,000 gallons will increase from $3.50 to $3.70.
This increase is the third of four total water rate increases planned.
Director of Finance Monica Harris said these increases are estimated to bring in $20 million over the next 10 years and will pay for needed water and sewer infrastructure repairs.
The council also approved to use $9,345 of HOT funds to advertise for the Texstar Ford summer concert series.
Additionally the council discussed the ongoing East Side Sewer Project but tabled the vote for next week’s meeting on April 24.
