STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton has checked in at No. 6 in the NCAA Regional Tennis rankings, which were released Wednesday afternoon. This is the second week of regional rankings and Tarleton was on the outside looking in a week ago.
Tarleton is 8-8 overall this season with a 7-5 mark against NCAA Division II competition. The TexAnns are also 5-2 in Lone Star Conference play and finished third in the league standings.
St. Mary’s leads the regional poll at No. 1 while LSC rivals Midwestern State and Cameron check in at No. 2 and 3, respectively. St. Edward’s rounds out the top four while Metro State joins Tarleton on the bubble at No. 5 and 6.
Four teams will represent the South Central region in the national playoffs, which includes the tournament champions from the Heartland and Lone Star Conference as well as two at-large teams from within the LSC, Heartland, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Tarleton will take the court in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament on Friday at 10 a.m. in the quarterfinals against UT Permian Basin at the HEB Tennis Center in Corpus Christi.
