Gee wins LSC Player of the Year, four TexAnns honored at awards banquet

ABILENE – Tarleton women’s golf once again headlined the Lone Star Conference awards banquet as four TexAnns were recognized for their performance this season.

Sarah Gee took home the top honors as the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year. Gee led the TexAnns with a 74.7 scoring average in 17 rounds and had six top 20 finishes and five top 10 finishes this season. Gee won two LSC Player of the Week awards this year and has five for her career. It’s the 10th straight season Tarleton has won the LSC Player of the Year award, as Gee joins Casey Wild (2017), Isabel Jimenez-Perea (2013-16), Jacqueline Lau (2012), and Carla Cooper (2009-11) from the last decade.

In addition to her Player of the Year honor, Gee was also named first team All-Conference for the second straight season. Gee has been named All-LSC every year of her career, claiming second team honors her sophomore season and honorable mention as a freshman.

Joining Gee on the first team All-LSC was Casey Wild who adds to her impressive LSC resume. In her four-year career, Wild has been named the LSC Freshman of the Year, last year’s LSC Player of the Year, a three-time first team All-LSC selection and a two-time LSC Academic Player of the Year. Wild was also named to the LSC All-Academic team this season. This season, Wild is second on the team with a 75.1 scoring average and has five top 20 finishes, three top 10 finishes and has the only tournament win, claiming the title at the Flagler Fall Slam.

Casey Leatherman and Junie Khaw were selected second team All-Conference, their first LSC awards of their careers. Leatherman has a scoring average of 75.2 with six top 20 finishes and three top 10 finishes. In her first season with the TexAnns, Khaw has a scoring average of 75.1 and has six top 20 finishes and one top 10 finish.

The No. 13-ranked TexAnns will compete at the LSC Championship Tournament at the Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene on April 23-24.
