Tarleton wraps up regular season at ACU Oliver Jackson Twilight

ABILENE— Tarleton Track & Field claimed two gold medals and an NCCA provisional mark at the Oliver Jackson Twilight hosted by Abilene Christian to close out the regular season Thursday.

Dalton Stidham took home a gold medal and marked a provisional time for the fifth consecutive time in the 110-meter hurdles. The junior hurdler from Boyd posted a career-best time of 14.21.

Brandon Reasoner ran a season-best 1:52.56 in the 800-meter run and earned a silver medal. The Texans boasted six of the top-eight finishers in the 1500-meter run. Johen Deleon (3:58.97) and Justin Botello (3:59.21) finished second and third while, Kyle Doty (4:01.97), Quenten Lasseter (4:05.97), Peyton Heinig (4:06.57), and Jarred Elizondo(4:07.63) finished fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth.

Rascellis Williams cleared 6′ 5″ in the high jump to finish fourth, Clashon Gaffney jumped a 44′ 10.75″ in the triple jump and came in fourth as well. Rylan Kaufman (10:53.96, 3000-meter steeplechase) and Michael Simcho (1:53.19, 800-meter run) both placed fourth on the day.

Cade Hitzfeld had a pair of seventh-place finishes at the meet, one coming in the 110-meter hurdles (15.81) and the other in the javelin throw (142′ 1″). Anterius Brown ran a time of 21.71 in the 200-meter dash placing seventh, and Jamel Anderson finished eighth in the race with a time of 21.75. Jared Steele rounded out the top-eight finishes for the Texans with a 1:58.21 in the 800-meter run.

Taylor Richards had the best finish for the TexAnns Thursday evening as the sophomore won the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 12:14.11. Imani Williams came in fourth-place clocking a season-best 4:44.05 in the 1500-meter run. Roxana Hernandez (high jump, 5′ 3.75″) and Elena Reagan (discus throw, 138′ 6″) both placed fifth in their events.

The TexAnns had five athletes finish seventh-place at the meet to round out the top-eight finishes for Tarleton. Emily Castleberry tossed the javelin 112′ 7″, Robbie Clarke ran a 15.15 in the 100-meter hurdles, and Kylee Ponder ran a 58.73 in her first ever open 400-meter dash at the collegiate level. Gabriella Nunn cleared 5′ 1.75″ in the high jump and Gwyneth Garcia finished with a season-best time of 4:58.94 in the 1500-meter run.

This was the final tune-up of the regular season as the Texans and TexAnns will compete in the Lone Star Conference Championships on Thursday May 3 through Saturday May 5 in San Angelo.
