STEPHENVILLE (May 16, 2018)– At yesterday’s special city council session, the council swore in its new and returning members and a new mayor. Council members Carla Trussell and Alan Nix returned for another term and Brandon Huckabee began his first term. Doug Svien, who was formerly on the Stephenville City Council, became Stephenville’s new mayor.

As his first duty Svien named May 15 Jerry Kenny Weldon II Day. City administrator Allen Barnes presented Weldon with a key to the city, and the Boy Scouts presented Weldon a token for his service. The council voted Weldon to be a special water resource advisor to the council and Region G of the Texas Water Development Board.

The council also elected council member Brady Pendleton mayor pro tempore.

  1. I have to admit, I am tired of City Manager Barnes. At first, I was open minded but he is just too goofy and unpolished to lead the city. All I hear are negative things from the employees. I hope the new mayor will address this right away.
