STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Volleyball is gearing up for its 25th season of NCAA competition and will begin the season with its annual home invitational tournament on August 24 in Stephenville.
The season will begin a week earlier than usual due to the set dates of the 2018 NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship Festival. The dates of the postseason championship allowed the season start date to be moved up one week. The TexAnns will begin that week with their annual eight-team, two-day tournament in Stephenville. Tarleton will host Black Hills State at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 to begin the year.
After the home tournament, Tarleton will head to Utah to take part in the Dixie State Invitational. The TexAnns will play four games in St. George, UT against regional opponents UC-Colorado Springs, Adams State, Arkansas-Fort Smith, and host Dixie State, who will join the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the fall.
Tarleton will then return home to begin Lone Star Conference action on September 7 with a three-match homestand against Texas Woman’s, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Angelo State. Conference play and a pair of non-conference opponents will make up the remainder of the schedule. The season finale will be in Odessa on Nov. 3 with the LSC Championship Tournament beginning on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the home of the LSC Champions.
Throughout the course of the season, there will be select promotional games. Those promotions are as follows:
August 24 vs Harding: Poster Giveaway (while supplies last)
Sept. 11 vs Angelo State: Greek Night
Sept. 21 vs St. Mary’s: Steel City Pops
