Arlo Lee Heinrichs was born on November 3, 1933 in Dinuba, California, to Henry and Ida Mae Heinrichs. Arlo had one younger brother, Duane Heinrichs, who passed away in January of 2018. Arlo attended the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, where he received a Bachelor of Arts, and a Master of Arts degree in Missions. Arlo and Viola Reimer were married on May 29, 1954. After Bible School and linguistic training they joined Wycliffe Bible Translators. Then they made preparations for missionary work, leaving for Brazil in April of 1959. After language learning, they began work as translators for the Piraha Indians in the Amazon. After 6 and a half years, and several bouts with malaria, they were reassigned to administration work until leaving Brazil in January of 1977. Back in the states they continued serving with Wycliffe both in California and Texas. In April of 1995 Arlo and Vi were asked to lead up a Wycliffe sending organization in the Caribbean. For two years they made their home in Trinidad. In March of 1997 they returned to Dallas, and retired from Wycliffe in June of 2000. It was at that time that Arlo and Vi made a move to Hico, Texas to live out their golden years. Arlo and Vi have 3 children, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Arlo loved to fish, and he loved to eat! He was never one to turn down a dessert. But most of all, Arlo loved God with all his heart. No one can refute the fact that Arlo loved God first, and his family second. He never wavered from those priorities. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Arlo was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Ida Mae Heinrichs, and his brother, Duane Heinrichs. Arlo is survived by Viola Heinrichs, his wife of 64 years of Hico, Texas, a son, Lindy Heinrichs and wife Kathryn of Hico, Texas, a daughter Lavon Blasing and husband Scott of Cedar Hill, Texas, and a daughter, Denise Humphrey and husband John of Ferris, Texas. Grandchildren are Jessica Parker, Ashlee Pate, Laura Corbin, Kari Lee, Nathan Heinrichs, Heather Heinrichs, Eric Heinrichs, Lydia Harris, Sara Heinrichs, Misty Watson, Madisson Blasing, Megan Sanders, and Travis Humphrey. And there are 11 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Arlo Heinrichs is scheduled for June 24, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Hico, at 3 p.m. Pastor Mike Fritscher and Pastor Dace Clifton will officiate. Burial was on June 7, at the Country Oaks Cemetery in Hico.
