STEPHENVILLE (July 12, 2018) – Panda Express is hosting a Launch Day Fundraiser Friday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. along with the ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.

Panda Express has also selected Erath County United Way (ECUW) as their non-profit partner with 20 percent of all proceeds from the day going to ECUW.

ECUW raises money to help fund a variety of local non-profit social service agencies that directly serve the residents of Erath County.

According to erathcountyuw.org, in 1971 the Stephenville United Fund was founded by a volunteer group of citizens to promote the social welfare of the city by encouraging cooperation and city-wide planning among the citizens through its civic, charitable, benevolent and social welfare agencies.

The volunteer group continued to work under the name of Stephenville United Fund until 1989 when Stephenville United Way was formed and joined the United Way of America. The volunteer Board of Directors realized in 1995 that services needed to be expanded to provide services to all residents of the county and changed the name to Erath County United Way.

The original vision of the founding members continues, and ECUW continues to provide funding to many local non-profit partner agencies that directly serve those in need in Erath County.

Staci King, campaign co-chair for the Erath County United Way 2018 Board of Directors, said she is looking forward to the fundraiser.

“A lot of the board will be out there, plus, they’re doing the ribbon cutting at the same time and I think they (Panda Express) are going to be great community partners so we’re really looking forward to working with them in the future.” King said. “It’s just a great blessing too for United Way to have them reach out to us and offer to do this for us.”

King also said that ECUW is really excited and overwhelmed that Panda Express chose them as their non-profit partner.

“We’re super excited that out of everybody they could pick, that they chose us to help so we’re really looking forward to it,” King said.
