STEPHENVILLE – Head coach Mark Cumpian has announced the addition of two summer signings for the Tarleton Softball program. These additions will begin at Tarleton this fall.

“I’m very excited to add Torrey and Jessica to our program beginning this fall,” said head coach Mark Cumpian. “They both understand the expectations of our program and want to help this team take the next step in 2019. Last year was a great year for our program and we want to continue that success next spring. I feel like both of these players, in addition to the other additions of our recruiting class, will have a big impact for us next year.”

The newest members of Tarleton Softball are as follows:

TORREY STUBBLEFIELD

Torrey Stubblefield comes to Tarleton as a dual-threat athlete – in the circle and at the plate. Stubblefield just wrapped up a senior season that included an 0.89 ERA and 174 strikeouts and a .409 batting average with 28 RBI.

She was the Team MVP, District Newcomer of the Year, All-District First Team, and All-Texoma Second Team last season.

“Torrey is a big pick up for our program,” said Cumpian. “She can flat out hang with the best and brings another big arm into our rotation for next season. Not only is she a good pitcher but she can also swing the bat. I can see Torrey working her way into our lineup in a big way. She will fit in with the rest of our battery staff and help us get back to where we want to be in 2019.”

JESSICA LEE

Jessica Lee will transfer to Tarleton after spending last year at Central Arkansas. Prior to attending Central Arkansas, Lee was a star on the diamond for Wylie High School as a four-time All-District selection.

In addition to her All-District First Team selection as a senior, she was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Academic All-State. She made her collegiate debut with an RBI double in her first career at-bat against Grambling State on Feb. 9, 2018.

“Jessica is a great addition to our roster because she’s a grinder,” said Cumpian. “She will help roam the outfield and bring another offensive dimension to our lineup. She understands what we are trying to accomplish here and there is no doubt that she will help our team take the next step as a program.”
