George Milton Wilson born November 27, 19935 in Belton, Texas to parents Colonial and Sarah Woods Wilson, passed away in Carlton, Texas on July 23, 2018 at age 82. George was known “Shinery” or Papa or Papaw by his family and friends, loved reading, hunting, fishing and farming. George graduated from Saint Phillips in San Antonio, Texas for electrical technology and teacher’s certification. George was a retired civil service electrician, draftsman for electrical planning and estimating. George also taught electrical trades at TSU. George also served 23 years active duty in the US Army, serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars and the Cuban Missile Crises and the Bay of Pigs.

Surviving George is his wife of 61 years Betty Wilson, children Jeannette McCann and husband David, James Lynn Wilson and wife LeeAnn, Sherry Ann Blevins and husband Lance, grandchildren Richey McCann and wife Carrie, Ashley Ripps and husband Marvin, Tiffany Miller and husband Luke, Krystal Wilson and her husband Thomas Montgomery, Cathryn Freeman and husband Codey Racnal. George is also survived by great grandchildren Macayla McCann, Jerod McCann, Gage Miller, Peyton Miller and Baby Ripps and many extended family members and friends.

Service Information

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at the Harvest Hills Funeral Home, located at 118 Second Street in Hico. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, in the Carlton Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Carlton Cemetery with military honors.
