FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:  10:00 A.M. Monday, August 6 2018, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

ROSARY:  6:00 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the funeral home.

VISITATION:  Family will receive friends on Sunday at the funeral home, following the Rosary, from 6:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

LUNCH:  Family will have lunch at East Side Baptist Church following the funeral services.

Peter Joseph “Pete” Boutross, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at his home in Comanche, Texas. He was the Managing Director of Comanche Funeral Home.

Pete was born on March 21, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Joseph Herbert and Blanche (Chiani) Boutross. He grew up in Kansas City and attended high school at De La Salle Military Academy. On July 20, 1963, he married Doris Oberbeck in Independence, Missouri. In 1968 he graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science as a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, and in 1972 he moved to Comanche where he worked at Comanche Funeral Home until his death. He was a member of West Texas Funeral Directors Association and served as President in 2006-2007, and also a member of Texas Funeral Directors Association.

He was devoted to his family and, over the years was very involved in community affairs. He served on the Comanche City Council for three terms, Chamber of Commerce Director for two terms, was chairman of Comanche Pow-Wow for three years and was instrumental in organizing the Comanche Kiwanis Club. He served as Worshipful Master for Hope Masonic Lodge #481 from 2007-2008 and was a member of Armstrong Masonic Lodge #445. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Pete had a great sense of humor, loved people and liked to play practical jokes on his friends. He was an expert with the Bull Whip and was interviewed by Tumbleweed Smith for his radio show featuring Pete’s prowess with the whip. Pete was “Larger than Life”, known to all in the community, and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved cocker spaniel, Bentley Rose Boutross; long time special friend and companion, Patsy Phifer of Comanche; daughter, LaDonna (Boutross) Bamrick and husband Robert of Fort Worth; son, Chris Boutross and wife Heather of Texarkana; grandchildren, Steven Hayes and wife Shantell of Springtown, Emilee Jaramillo of Fort Worth, Hadlee Thompson of Texarkana, Hayden Pope of Texarkana, and Holden Pete Boutross of Texarkana; great-granddaughter Sawyer Hutchins of Comanche; Jamey, Kim and Rylee Creek, of Buffalo Gap; sisters-in-law, Helen Boutross of Oak Grove, Missouri and Phyllis Boutross of Independence, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Herbert and Blanche (Chiani) Boutross; five brothers and six sisters.
