James Leslie Jernigan, 88, of Stephenville, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in Stephenville

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 18th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Carroll officiating. Military Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, at DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

James was born on December 13, 1929 in Wichita Falls to the late Willis B. and Johnnie Lillian Payton Jernigan. He married Lee Braswell on December 8, 1980 in Tucson, Arizona. James served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stephenville, and was a member of the Fort Worth Masonic Lodge. James lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he spent over 28 years in labor relations, and moved to Tucson and was an insurance agent for 16 years. James and Lee moved to Stephenville in 1997.

James is survived by his wife, Lee; son, Scott and wife Alice Jernigan of Fayetteville, AR, daughters, Terri and husband Hank Rogers of Collinsville, OK, Vicki and husband Jerry Gauthier of Fort Mill, SC, and son, Greg Huffman of Norman, OK; grandsons, Joshua Winders, Jordan Winders, Jared Rogers, & Jace Rogers; granddaughters, Lucy and Claire Gauthier; and several nieces, nephews, and a loving family.

Besides his parents, James was also preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Andrus and Christine Hudgins.
